Our Equity Statement

One of the four corners of the Strategic Plan that Eden Housing launched in 2021, is to embed a commitment to racial, social and economic justice in all our work. Two key milestones for this corner were to adopt a new mission statement that better reflects our commitment to equity; and a new equity statement that details specific commitments to racial, social and economic equity.

To achieve this, Eden formed a working group comprised of three board members and ten staff leaders with an intention to craft an equity statement aligned with Eden’s core values and areas of expertise. They also wanted the statement to be grounded in Eden’s core work with clear areas of focus—internal and external— using language that is aspirational, collaborative and inclusive. They worked to articulate goals towards a vision of what’s possible, as an actionable and guiding force.
