County of Santa Clara and Eden Housing Celebrate the Grand Opening of Mitchell Park Place in Palo Alto

The mixed-use development adds 50 affordable homes to Palo Alto, half of which serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
What: The County of Santa Clara and Eden Housing, in partnership with the City of Palo Alto and AbilityPath, are celebrating the completion of Mitchell Park Place, which began construction in January 2024, and is now fully occupied. The project is a mixed-use development that provides office space for AbilityPath and 50 affordable homes, including 25 set aside for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The homes serve lower-income households earning at or below 60% of the area median income.
Mitchell Park Place is located on land owned by the County.

About Mitchell Park Place:
Centrally located in the heart of Palo Alto, this thoughtfully designed community blends seamlessly with the neighborhood’s character. The abundant resources in the surrounding area offer an ideal setting for individuals with IDD, supporting residents in leading more independent, connected lives. Nearby amenities include the Mitchell Park Community Center and Library, Magical Bridge Playground, cafes, grocery stores, and retail.
This unique project is GreenPoint Platinum-rated and features a full suite of amenities, including an outdoor courtyard with planters for growing fruits and vegetables.
The County provided $12 million in funding for the project, including $11 million that is designated for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
AbilityPath, which will provide services to residents, is a nonprofit that supports people with disabilities and their families.
