Volunteer of the Month

Why did you choose to volunteer with Eden Housing?
I volunteer because I live in this community with my husband and three kids. I want to be involved in this community and my daughter is participating in different programs that are offered within the community.
What have you done as a volunteer? Please describe your role and what you have worked on.
I volunteered in the National Night Out in August. I helped with setting up for the program
What have you learned through your volunteer experience? Have there been any surprises?
What I have learned is to appreciate your community and the people in the community, and to appreciate those who are arranging all the extra activities for our kids, for example, the ELP Classes, Art and Piano. There are always surprises, likewise, I appreciate the coordinators for hard work.
What do you like best about volunteering with Eden Housing?
I appreciate our community, and also Miss Stephanie, our Resident Services Coordinator, because she does a lot for our kids and our community. I am also thankful for Miss Amy and Cliff. I would like to give back to our community because we all are here as a family. I want to be more involved with my kids, especially my daughter Jasmine. I want to be a role model for her.
Are there any tips that you would share for someone else who is considering volunteering?
The only tip can give is especially for the parents, volunteer with your kids. They will appreciate it more and it will give you the opportunity to spend time with each because that’s what kids want and it will be a learning experience for both kids and parents.
Tell us something we may not know about you. Any interesting facts you’d like to share about your life?
I like to do art with my kids and spend time with each separately. I like to cook and one day I hope to have my own food truck.
