Tamalko Homes
100 Commodore Webster Drive, Point Reyes Station, California
Community Type: Family, Farmworker
Property Description
Tamalko Homes is a 54-apartment community in Pt. Reyes Station, originally constructed in 1976 in a townhome style and used for housing U.S. Coast Guard personnel. The Coast Guard stopped using the site as housing in 2014, so it has been a little over a decade since the units were inhabited. The Coast Guard decommissioned a site of employment nearby and thus no longer needed to house enlisted USCG members and their families in this location. The land was authorized to be conveyed to Marin County in 2016 and was officially purchased in 2019. Eden and CLAM were chosen by Marin County as the developers in 2020 through an RFP process. Since then, additional community outreach took place, then preparation of plans and the applications for the required planning approvals (Land Use Permit and Local Coastal Permit) were submitted. During that time the project also underwent a CEQA analysis, and the project obtained entitlements in 2024. The Project Sponsors are now working to secure the final stages of financing.
Upon completion, the renovated Tamalko Homes will be the largest affordable housing development in West Marin, providing 54 affordable homes to low-income families and agricultural workers.
The apartments are on a 7.76 acre site with shared outdoor space, a basketball court, play structure, walking paths, laundry room in the barracks building, laundry hookups in each townhome unit, and uncovered surface parking. The scope of work includes:
