About the property

Located along Freedom Boulevard just over 1 mile to downtown Watsonville, Tabasa Gardens is a new apartment community that will contribute to Watsonville’s vision of a city with housing for all income levels. The community will serve residents earning between 25 to 50% of the area’s median income, which is equivalent to an annual income of $28,000 to $56,000 for a two-person household.

Tabasa Gardens will set aside approximately half of the units for farmworkers. There will also be 6 units dedicated to households experiencing homelessness.

The development is designed as two three-story buildings with 53 apartments, which include a mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom units. One of the units will be set aside for a live-in community manager, helping ensure that the property is well managed at all times. Additionally, the ground level of the building includes a management office for the full-time community manager, as well as an office for a resident services coordinator who will provide myriad services – such as wellness, career, education and financial literacy programming – to help ensure residents succeed. There will also be an office for onsite case-management support from Santa Cruz County to assist the households transitioning from homelessness. As part of Eden’s commitment to addressing the digital divide, the project will provide discounted in-unit Wi-Fi for all residents through a partnership with Cruzio.

Tabasa Gardens is designed with sustainability in mind, with solar panels over carports, low-flow water fixtures, Energy Star appliances and dedicated indoor bike parking. The project will be Green Point Rated certified. The property also includes a computer room, community room, laundry facilities and an outdoor barbecue and play area.
