Donner Field Senior Apartments is a new 67-unit affordable housing community for seniors aged 55 and older. The development includes 65 one-bedroom apartments and two two-bedroom apartments and will serve households earning at or below 50% of the Area Median Income. Seventeen homes are reserved for seniors transitioning out of homelessness and will be paired with supportive services and case management through referrals from the local Continuum of Care. Construction is currently underway and is anticipated to be completed in spring 2027.

The community is centered around a spacious shared courtyard, creating opportunities for residents to socialize, garden, and relax in a welcoming outdoor setting. The site features a U-shaped two- and three-story residential building and a separate community building where residents will have access to educational programs, wellness resources, and other services provided by Eden Housing’s resident services team. Additional amenities include community gardens with raised planter beds, barbecue areas, a bocce ball court, a computer room, bicycle storage, electric vehicle charging stations, covered parking, and central laundry facilities. The development is all-electric and is expected to achieve GreenPoint Rated Gold certification.

The site was previously owned by the City of Sacramento and was awarded to Eden Housing through a Request for Proposals process in 2020. The property has long been identified as a candidate for affordable housing and is designated for such use in the Stockton Boulevard Plan. The project was intentionally designed to provide stable, affordable housing opportunities for older adults while allowing longtime neighborhood residents to age in place and remain connected to their community, family, and friends.
