77th and Bancroft Apartments
2500 76th Avenue, Oakland, California
Community Type: Senior
Property Description
Eden Housing is collaborating with the Black Cultural Zone and the California Housing Initiative to develop the 77th and Bancroft Housing Project in Oakland, CA. After The Oakland Housing Authority’s (“OHA”) Request for Proposal, this project will provide over 90 new affordable housing units for seniors, designed for universal accessibility and features proximity to public transportation, with the site located just half a mile from a major transit stop, enhancing accessibility for future residents.
The project aims to enhance connectivity with the Eastmont community by incorporating both indoor and outdoor spaces and seeking community input to ensure lasting benefits. The first floor will feature an entry courtyard with various outdoor areas, while the second floor will have seasonal gardens. A 2,500-square-foot neighborhood space will host town hall meetings and workshops. The redevelopment honors the site’s history as the former Greenside housing project (developed in 1971) by addressing past challenges and fostering positive change. The integration of art, culture, and healthy living, including local art installations, will enrich the environment and connect residents to the arts.
Overall, the 77th and Bancroft Housing Project seeks to provide housing security, foster community, and address the needs of Oakland’s seniors.
