FAQ
How do I know if I qualify?
Completion of the interview and eligibility process is the only way to know for certain if you qualify. There is, however, an abundance of information offered to allow you to do a preliminary self-assessment for the housing community of interest.
Properties accepting applications will have the income limits and minimum requirements (if applicable), occupancy guidelines (how many people can reside in a certain unit type) and any other qualifying factors such as age limits advertised on each individual property’s page on our website. This information is also outlined in the Tenant Selection Plan which is always available upon request for your review.
It is important to note that income eligibility for affordable housing is based on gross income (before taxes are deducted). Before applying, please check your household’s circumstances against these requirements. Final eligibility determinations however are not made until applicants are selected from the waitlist, fully screened, and verified.
How do I apply for housing?
Applications for housing can be submitted electronically through online application form or by completing a paper application. Instructions for the application process will be detailed on each individual property’s page on our website and is specific to each waitlist.
I applied but haven’t heard anything. What should I do?
The average wait time on an affordable housing waitlist is 2-4 years from the date of application but can be less. Factors include the frequency of turnover, number of applicants on the waitlist and the continued interest/ need for housing of those who applied.
Applicants will hear from Eden at least annually to inquire about your status and continued interest and again when selected from the waitlist for eligibility screening. We welcome you to contact the property that you have applied to directly to confirm your active status at any time.
How do I check my waitlist status?
The waitlist for each Eden property is managed at the property level. Position on the waitlist is subject to change at any point in time due to many factors (applicant preferences, accessibility needs, reinstatement or withdrawal etc.) Waitlist position therefore is never disclosed.
Applicants can check their active status on the waitlist, bedroom size, household size/composition and contact information by emailing or calling the property directly.
How can I find information on new properties opening?
You can view information on new properties in development by going to the home page of our website and clicking “Partner with Us” on the top toolbar. Select “Real Estate Development” from the drop-down menu, then select individual properties from the list to learn more about each location.
How can I view floorplans?
Floor plans are not available for the Eden Housing affordable housing units at this time and often vary from unit to unit within a building. Applicants will be provided with a tour of the prospective unit during the application process with the exception of a new construction lease up.
