Eden Housing Promotes Michael Abbate to Senior Controller
HAYWARD – Eden Housing announces that Michael Abbate has been promoted to Senior Controller.
Michael Abbate joined Eden Housing in 2017 as Corporate Controller, following his 4-year tenure at Lindquist, Van Husen, and Joyce where he managed audit engagements for peer non-profit housing developers in the Bay Area. He brought with him deep technical knowledge of the unique requirements and needs of the affordable housing industry and was able to apply that to his work at Eden.
Over the last three years, Michael led Eden’s Corporate Accounting and Development Accounting teams in implementing major process and systems improvements including the adoption of Investment Management, Job Cost and Management Fee features for Yardi accounting software. He overhauled Eden’s Finance Committee reporting and tracking tools, enabling the Committee’s strategic oversight.
Michael started a centralized Treasury function at Eden and consolidated tasks previously performed by many different staff members. This provides critical consistency and allows for the implementation of uniform fraud prevention measures.
