October 9 event at Mulberry Gardens will highlight housing bond investments and the need for affordable homes across the region

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — On Friday, October 9, Riverside Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson, San Bernardino Mayor Helen Tran and Moreno Valley Mayor Ulises Cabrera will join the Inland SoCal Housing Collective (ISCHC) for a press conference to urge voters to support Proposition 1 on the November 3 ballot.

The event will highlight how state housing investments help communities create affordable homes and why additional funding is needed for working families, seniors and veterans across Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. Developed by Eden Housing, Mulberry Gardens received support from the housing bond California voters approved in 2018. Its Sparrow building includes 58 affordable homes for seniors and one manager unit, alongside the Goldfinch family housing development.

Proposition 1, the Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond Act of 2026, would authorize $11.25 billion in bond funding to build and preserve affordable housing and expand homeownership opportunities across California. The measure includes $1.25 billion for veterans’ home loans and $1.1 billion for homeownership and down payment assistance, along with funding for affordable rental housing, supportive housing and housing infrastructure.
