March 2, 2023 —Eden Housing is pleased to announce the promotion of Darnell Williams from Vice President of Asset Management to Senior Vice President of Property Operations, effective April 10, 2023.

Darnell Williams

Williams was selected following an extensive national search that generated a competitive and robust candidate pool. He has been an integral part of Eden Housing’s growth over the last five years. His passion and commitment, coupled with his collaborative and data-driven approach to problem solving and ability to develop outstanding leaders, were just a few of the many reasons he was chosen for this position.

“I am thrilled with this choice,” said Shola Olatoye, Chief Operating Officer of Eden Housing. “Darnell has been a key player in Eden’s growth, and I look forward to seeing the tremendous impact I know he will make on the organization and the communities and individuals we serve.”

In his current role, Williams is responsible for the daily oversight of the Asset Management team, which manages Eden’s portfolio of assets totaling $2 billion with combined annual operating revenue of more than $175 million. He also manages various key relationships with Eden’s stakeholders, agency partners, investors, and the greater financial community. Among his many accomplishments, Williams spearheaded the overhaul of Eden’s rent policy by leading a cross functional team, resulting in a more equitable and transparent set of policies for the organization’s residents.

In his new role as SVP of Property Operations, Williams will lead the operational activities of Eden Housing’s affiliates, including Eden Housing Management Inc. (EHMI) and Eden Housing Resident Services, Inc. (EHRSI). He will also help ensure that Eden’s 400+ site and resident services staff are supported and trained, and that the properties remain fiscally sound and well-maintained while offering a comprehensive resident services component. Williams will work closely in partnership with Eden’s Executive Team in formulating and administering the organization’s polices, goals and objectives.

“I am honored to be tapped to deepen my commitment to Eden Housing by taking on this new role,” said Williams. “I’m proud of the work we’ve done together, and I look forward to helping the organization move closer towards its goal of providing access to safe, high quality, affordable housing for all.”

Williams brings several years of multi-family housing experience from various roles and capacities in affordable and market rate housing with non-profit and for-profit organizations. Prior to joining Eden, Darnell held various asset management roles – most recently with The Bascom Group where he led the execution of value-add business plans for a portfolio of multifamily communities. Previously, he worked for MidPen Housing and EPMI (A.F. Evans management company) where he progressively gained knowledge and experience in real estate finance and portfolio oversight.

Williams is a well-respected thought leader and is frequently invited to speak at industry conferences and events. In addition to serving as a member of Eden Housing’s Extended Leadership Team, he serves on various property Board of Directors for Eden and external organizations, including Merritt Capital. He received his degree in Justice Systems and Business Administration from Truman State University.
