Eden Housing Names Two New Board Members with Expertise in Real Estate, Senior Housing and More

February 4, 2025

Eden Housing announced two new board members, Katia Kamangar, Founder and Principal at Kamangar Consulting, LLC, a strategic real estate advisory firm; and Joe O’Hehir, Interim CEO at Vivalon, whose mission is to ensure every adult has the opportunity to age with independence, dignity and grace.

“We’re thrilled to welcome these two experts to our board as they bring a powerful combination of skills and experience, with invaluable insights from the real estate and senior housing sectors,” said Eden Housing President & CEO Linda Mandolini. “Katia and Joe will play a critical role in shaping our strategic initiatives and advancing our mission to create more affordable and sustainable housing options for the most vulnerable among us.”

As the two new members join, Jim Kennedy wraps up 12 years of board service, including a term as president. “We appreciate all that Jim has brought to our board and are indebted to him for his tireless service as an affordable housing champion and integral member of our board,” Mandolini said.

Kamangar brings over 25 years of experience in residential and mixed-use real estate development, most recently as partner, executive vice president and managing director of SummerHill Homes and SummerHill Apartment Communities, part of the Marcus & Millichap real estate companies, where she oversaw all new housing developments in Northern California. She has served on the boards of the Credit Committee for Housing Trust Silicon Valley, the Building Industry Association of Bay Area and the California Building Industry Association; and has served as the planning commissioner for the City of Los Altos.

Jim O’Hehir brings deep expertise in the senior housing sector, with a career dedicated to advancing innovative care models for the elderly. After serving as the CEO of Vivalon (formerly Whistlestop) for 13 years and retiring in March 2021, he rejoined the organization as interim CEO in 2024. Under his leadership, Vivalon, in partnership with Eden Housing, realized his vision of a cutting-edge model for community-integrated care with the opening of the Healthy Aging Campus in San Rafael in January 2024. Throughout his career, O’Hehir has provided executive leadership to healthcare and community-based nonprofit organizations across the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. He played a key role in founding Marin County’s Aging Action Initiative (AAI) in 2013, serving on its steering committee, and he spent 16 years as an appointed governing board member for the Public Authority of Marin’s In-home Supportive Services agency.
