Eden Housing Awards $124,780 in Scholarship Funds to 29 Students Throughout California
July 8, 2026
HAYWARD, California – (July 8, 2026) – Eden Housing, a leading affordable housing nonprofit, announced today it is awarding a total of $124,780 to 29 students who are residents of properties managed by Eden Housing. This marks the organization’s 34th anniversary of the Howard T. Collins Memorial Scholarship, which has provided $1.4 million to more than 700 deserving students since its inception.
“These students are nothing short of remarkable, given their impressive accomplishments that came without the safety net that many of us may take for granted,” said Eden Housing president and CEO Linda Mandolini. “When a family has access to high-quality, affordable housing, students can focus on becoming who they’re meant to be. We are proud to stand behind them and to have played a small role in their journey.”
Students will attend schools that include Brown University, Loyola Marymount University, Santa Clara University, San Jose State University, U.C. Berkeley, San Diego State, U.C. San Diego, University of the Pacific, Chico State and many more. The students will be pursuing degrees in everything from the medical and marketing fields to political science, psychology and more.
The Howard T. Collins Memorial Scholarship Program launched in 1993 and is named in honor of former Eden housing board member Howard T. Collins, who was known for his passion for social and economic justice and tireless work to expand opportunity and access to higher education. Students must be currently enrolled in a course of study and pursuing their advanced educational, academic and/or career advancement and vocational goals at California colleges and universities.
