COVID-19 update from Linda Mandolini
March 25, 2020
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones well. First and foremost, a big thank you to everyone who is reaching out. Your kind words are appreciated as everyone at Eden works to keep our residents housed during this uncertain time. While the challenges brought by COVID-19 are unpredictable, this crisis is highlighting the importance of our mission to provide homes for so many Californians who need them. We are grateful for the Eden team members who are tenacious in their efforts to keep our work moving when the world is literally shutting down. Foreseeing a “shelter in place” order, Eden moved quickly to a work from home policy at all of our corporate offices. Our site teams continue to work at our properties with specific social distancing protocols. We also have backup protocols in place that allow for very small work details in our offices to handle physical mail, accounts payable, and payroll.
Our commitment to our residents’ wellbeing remains a top priority. Our Resident Services Team is conducting welfare checks on residents, continuing food distributions, and connecting residents to resources in the many communities we work in. April 1 is just around the corner, and we know that the need to pay rent is front and center on the worry list for many of our residents who will shoulder the burden of the statewide shutdown of businesses. We are committed to keeping our residents housed and have started notifying them of their rights under the various eviction moratoria that have been passed and our plans to work with them to weather this situation. We are also working to identify safety net resources in the community that can help them.
To that end, we will be creating a resident support fund – the first donation of $10,000 was made by Rita Vandenburgh, in memory of Bill Vandenburgh, our founding board member who always reminds us that we can rise to any challenge. We hope that you can help us by considering a donation of any size to this effort. We will use the funds to help as many of our tenants as we can through these challenging times.
Thank you again to everyone for keeping us in your thoughts.
Stay Well,
Linda Mandolini
