Eden Housing Celebrates Grand Opening of Crescent Grove

WHAT:

Eden Housing is hosting a grand opening ceremony to celebrate the launch of Crescent Grove, a new 72-unit affordable housing community in Castro Valley. The development offers a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments for households earning between 20% and 60% of the area median income.

Crescent Grove provides essential housing solutions for a wide range of individuals and families, including those experiencing homelessness, veterans, and people with disabilities. The community has 18 units designated for individuals and families who have experienced homelessness, with an income cap of 20% of the area median income. An additional 15 units are reserved for veterans through the VASH voucher program, and 10 units are set aside for people with disabilities through the Mainstream voucher program, paired with support services from the Regional Center of the East Bay (RCEB).

The project is four stories with two surface parking lots. Crescent Grove is designed to foster community both on and off-site. The project has a community room at the ground floor, a large residential courtyard with play structures and community gardens, and meeting spaces and private offices for resident services. The site features many pieces of artwork that were made from reclaimed trees from the site. The development also has direct access to the San Lorenzo Creekway, a portion of which was constructed concurrent with the development. The Creekway is currently under development and is an Active Transportation Corridor for walking and biking, which will ultimately connect communities in San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Ashland, Cherryland, Hayward and Castro Valley as it runs from the Bay to Cull Canyon Regional Rec Area.
