Dear Eden Housing Volunteers,

Eden Housing would like to thank you all for your continued commitment to our properties and our residents. The news has been changing daily regarding COVID-19 and we want to assure you that we are taking precautions for the safety of our staff, residents, and volunteers.

As a result of the groups and gathering restrictions mandated by Governor Newsom and various city officials, Eden had decided to close its Central Offices for two weeks and require most staff to work from home. We are closing our Central Offices to be responsible and preventative but know that this is a fluid and temporary situation.

Additionally, due to the sensitive populations we serve, Eden Housing is requiring that the volunteer program postpones any and all community volunteer shifts at our sites including, but not limited to after-school programs, senior buddy program, and technology tutors, until further notice. All community and corporate volunteer groups will be scheduled for a future date, as well.

For our current financial coaching volunteers, any tentative or planned meetings should occur over the phone until April 7. For all new financial coaches set to start in 2020, we have temporarily cancelled all planned trainings. When we learn more about the status of this program I will reach back out and reconfirm attendance dates.

If you are a resident of Eden Housing and volunteer regularly, please connect with your Resident Services Coordinator for continued guidance.

At this time our Volunteer Appreciation Event, which was scheduled for Tuesday, April 21 is postponed, until further notice. Your continued support of our residents has not gone unnoticed and we hope to celebrate you all in the future.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.

Alyssa Santos

Community Engagement & Volunteer Programs Manager

Eden Housing was started by a group of volunteers 51 years ago. Today, our volunteers support our mission every day by sharing their invaluable time, energy, skills and passion with our residents.

At Eden Housing, there’s a volunteer opportunity for everyone.

Volunteers tutor the youth in our afterschool programs, provide nutrition and exercise classes, teach financial education, and help us build community.  We could not do this work without you.  We believe in the power of residents to transform their lives, in the power of community to build hope, and the power of volunteerism to profoundly impact and create opportunity.
