Local Community Leader, Timothy Reilly, Elected President of Board of Directors of Eden Housing, Inc.

1/21/06   Hayward-based Eden Housing, Inc. has announced that Timothy Reilly, Vice-President in Union Bank of California's Middle Market Lending Group, has been elected President of the Board of Directors of Hayward-based nonprofit housing developer Eden Housing, Inc

Mr. Reilly, who has been with Union Bank for 26 years, has been serving on the Eden Board of Directors since 2000.  He began working with Eden Housing as a founding member of one of the organization's property boards, Redwood Lodge in the late 1980's, a collaborative project with Community Resources for Independent Living.  Mr. Reilly has an impressive record of community involvement.  In addition to his volunteer work with Eden Housing, he was the Chairman of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce-1999-2000, and still serves on its Political Action Committee - known as Business for Good Government with by-laws and a board separate from the Chamber. He is also the CFO and a founding board member of Alison Montessori Foundation, a private middle school and advanced 2-year high school program.  He was also the District Chairman of the Boy Scouts of America for 1999, and a prior 10-year board member of the Community Resources for Independent Living of Hayward.  In addition, he has been in an advisory capacity with a number of other organizations.

In his non-banker, non-activist life, Tim Reilly is a founder and guitar-playing member of a popular local working band, Canyon, which specializes in classic rock and roll music.  Mr. Reilly, his wife and son have resided in Fremont since 1991.

Eden Housing, Inc., founded in 1968, is one of the Bay Area's oldest and most active developers of affordable housing for lower income seniors, families and people with disabilities.  The company has developed more than 4,700 units of award-winning affordable rental and first-time buyer housing throughout Northern California.

Affordable housing developments, even those developed by the same company, are often under separate nonprofit corporations to facilitate organizational reporting and to more easily track project financing, which is often from multiple sources.  As President of Eden Housing, Inc. Mr. Reilly will also be President of multiple boards which oversee the activities of several affiliated nonprofit corporations, including Eden Housing Management Corporation, Inc, (EHMI) Eden's property management affiliate, and Eden Housing Resident Services, Inc. (EHRSI), which provides human services and programs for Eden's low-income residents.

Reilly is co-founder of The Emerging Market Group (EMG), a nonprofit affinity group of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce for principals and senior executives who use the organization as a forum in which to raise, discuss and resolve issues that affect the growth of their emerging companies, and links corporate Fremont to the educational community.
