Kurt Wiest is Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the County of Alameda (HACA) and Preserving Alameda County Housing (PACH) where he leads management of a variety of affordable housing programs and properties for persons of limited financial means.  He returned to HACA in June 2020 after a 14-year absence while he served as Executive Director of the Bremerton (WA) Housing Authority.  From 1990 to 2006, Kurt held senior management positions with HACA, including Deputy Director.  He has also previously worked at the Polk County (OR) Housing Authority and began his career with the Housing Authority of Salt Lake City (UT).

Kurt volunteers his time on governing boards and as a volunteer with a diverse group of civic, youth, and religious organizations.   He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geographic Planning and a Master of Science degree in City / Regional Planning, both from Brigham Young University.  He has completed post-graduate study in urban planning and non-profit administration at the University of Utah and California State University – East Bay.
