Eden Housing to Celebrate National Night Out

HAYWARD, CA – Eden Housing residents will join local officials, representatives of police and fire departments, community volunteers, and neighbors in celebrating National Night Out (NNO) on Tuesday, August 6. Observed annually on the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

According to NNO, millions of people take part in National Night Out events in thousands of communities across all fifty states. “Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.”

Here in California, Eden will join in festivities at more than 80 properties from San Ysidro to Healdsburg. Here are a few examples:

  • At recently renovated Corona Ranch (990 Ely Road, Petaluma, CA 94954), from 3:00-6:00pm, over 200 residents of the 74 family units are expected to engage in activities which emphasize the various ways to avoid crime through literacy, education, health and a strong community.
  • Ford Road Plaza (215 Ford Road, San Jose, CA 95138), a 75-unit family property, will have a sports-themed event that includes Zumba, karate, raffles, and a taco truck from 6:00-8:00pm.
  • Over 100 residents of The Altenheim (1720 MacArthur Boulevard, Oakland, CA 94602), an historic 174-unit senior property, will celebrate through food, games, and raffles with the assistance of volunteers from Starbucks from 4:00-6:00pm.
  • ‘A Day at the Beach’ themed celebration will take place at Coronado Terrace Apartments (1151 25th Street, San Diego, CA 92154) from 4:00-7:00pm. Coronado Terrace was recently re-dedicated following an extensive rehabilitation and includes 312 family units.
