Eden Heroes Act in Times of Disaster

From the Kincade Fire to the PG&E power shutoffs, the last few months of 2019 have been a challenging time for many Californians. Eden staff displayed strength and resilience. Even while worried about their families and friends, many stayed at Eden’s properties to ensure that our residents were safe.
Eden lives by its mission of providing safe, well-managed and service-enhanced affordable housing to all of our residents. This commitment and dedication to our residents was even more apparent during these scary times. In October, Foss Creek Court, Healdsburg, and Del Nido Apartments, Santa Rosa, were safely evacuated. Site staff at Del Nido worked around the clock and, when needed, were able to secure transportation (at 3:00 a.m.) to transport their special needs residents to safety. Everyone got out, down to a resident’s cherished guinea pigs! Once the communities were declared safe to return, site staff sprung in to action to organize Uber rides for residents, allowing them to return safely home. They then worked tirelessly with PG&E to ensure that the units were safe and that all utilities (gas and electric) were working.

PG&E's Public Safety Power Shutoffs also impacted multiple Eden properties. Eden’s Property Operations and Resident Services staff performed wellness checks at all affected sites, equipped residents with flashlights, water, and snacks to support residents without power, and communicated regularly with investors and other partners that make our work possible.

Eden is incredibly grateful to all who worked around the clock to ensure the safety of our residents. A special thank you to the Sonoma Sheriff's Office for assistance in the evacuations, and to all first responders and fire personnel for continuing the valiant efforts to combat the blaze.

Thank you to everyone reaching out to express your support. Rest assured that Eden Housing staff is well-equipped to respond to emergencies.
